BO&Co. Review: Nyakio Beauty

Picture: Nyakio.com

I discovered Nyakio Beauty after reading an article about its launch a few months ago. I was surprised and excited that a black-owned product could be found at Ulta Beauty! I am pleased that this brand has an entire facial care system that I can grab on the go. Now, whenever I’m in an Ulta store, I make the extra effort to check for the brand. The first product I bought from this line was the lip scrub. I fell in love and had to return to buy the lip balm and face moisturizer.

About Nyakio Beauty

This brand was created by Nyakio Kamoche Grieco, a first generation American of Kenyan descent. Her beauty journey started when she was a young girl visiting her grandmother in Kenya. Her grandmother was a coffee farmer who taught her to crush coffee beans and rub them on my skin using a piece of sugarcane to remove dry skin. Years later, Nyakio brings you beauty secrets, cultural traditions and natural ingredients from around the world for naturally ageless beauty.

Kenyan Coffee Lip Polish $24

Product Details:

Nyakio's Kenyan Coffee Lip Polish is a lip scrub that polishes away dry skin to reveal soft, supple lips. Key Benefits include:

  • Enriched with Kenyan coffee to gently exfoliate
  • Leaves lips soft and smooth
  • Preps skin for Nyakio Baobab Lip Balm
  • Cruelty-free

My Thoughts:

This lip scrub was easy to use and isn’t messy. I generally use the Bliss Fabulips and but the scrub requires me to use my fingers as a scoop. With the Nyakio Lip Scrub, you only need to squeeze the formula out of the tube directly to your lips. I have used a soft toothbrush to speed up the exfoliating process but rubbing your lips together while you continue getting ready also works just as well. I am “Ms. Chappity Chap Chapped Lips” and this is a staple for my winter product stash.

Nyakio Baobab Lip Balm  $22

Product Details:

Nyakio's luxuriously rich Baobab Lip Balm melts instantly for soft, supple lips. Key Benefits include:

  • It melts instantly for soft lips
  • Intensely hydrates
  • Contains Baobab Oil from the "African Tree of Life”
  • Cruelty-Free.

My Thoughts:

I keep this product along with my Chapstick in my bag at all times but I mainly use it after using the lip polish. The product is a good follow up after exfoliating for keeping my dry lips moisturized. This balm is very thick and definitely is moisturizing. I use this balm sparingly, however, because a little does go a very long way but also it is a .5fl oz( 15ml) for $22 ( so, it willl beeee stretched hunty!). Despite that fact, If you want to invest in a lip balm, this would be it.

  • Lightweight, whipped cream helps to restore skin's natural glow

  • Packed with vitamins and antioxidants to protect skin

  • Contains Baobab Oil from the "African Tree of Life"

  • Cruelty-Free

My Thoughts:

YALL! THIS MOISTURIZER RIGHT HERE! I instantly fell in love from the first day of applying it after cleansing. I have combination sensitive skin and generally keep things simple. In the fall and winter seasons, I have had trouble with finding a face moisturizer that actually does what it promises. Like the other products, a little goes a long way. To put it to the test, I have used it after applying a serum and immediately after cleansing; I have yet to be disappointed. It also is great for getting the skin ready for your makeup routine.

Final Thoughts:

The fact that I can find this brand in Ulta is perfect. If you must get a product right now, the youth-infused defense is the must have to grab. I currently have my eyes on the cleansing balm and will be purchasing and reviewing it very soon! Follow Nyakio Beauty on social media Twitter/Instagram/Facebook- Nyakio Beauty
